Discover the most iconic corners of Rome, the Eternal City, renowned all over the world: from Trastevere to Campo dei Fiori, from the Imperial Forums to Trinità dei Monti, to Navona Square and the famous Trevi Fountain. Don’t miss a guided tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.
Arrival in Rome, meeting with the tour leader and the rest of the group. Dinner at the hotel
Hotel breakfast. This morning is dedicated to the visit of ancient Rome and its treasures. The splendor of the past is evidenced by many monuments like Colosseum (outside), commissioned around A.D. 70-72 originally built for the fighting and gladiatorial games. Proceed to the Arch of Constantine, built in A.D. 315 in honor of Constantine I’s victory over Maxentius at Pons Milvius, the Roman Forum, and the area of the Imperial Forums, Capitoline Hill and “Il Vittoriano” (aka the Altare della Patria; Altar of the Fatherland). We will also see the church of San Pietro in Vincoli with Michelangelo’s statue of Moses. Lunch at your leisure.
In the afternoon, we'll have a guided stroll in the centre, discovering the several squares and fountains od Rome, such as Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona and the marvellous Fontana di Trevi.
Dinner in a typical trattoria, overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with the guide for a tour of "Catholic Rome" with a visit to the Vatican City, the smallest state in the world, classified as a UNESCO heritage site. The tour begins with the Vatican Museums (entry fee included), one of the world's largest classical and renaissance collections. You will admire the Sixtine Chapel, one of the most awaited moments for anybody coming to Rome. visit to San Pietro and following lunch at your leisure.
In the afternoon, we'll visit two of the most historical districts of the city and we'll finish today's visit with a stroll on Tiberina island.
Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
